Krakow Condensed Matter Seminar: "Interactions of oxygen with MoS2 crystals"
Środa, 28. Kwiecień 2021, 09:00

It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the Krakow Condensed Matter Seminar which will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at 9.00 am. The talk will be given online via UPeL. You can participate in the meeting via the link below:

The lecture entitled "Interactions of oxygen with MoS2 crystals." will be presented by dr hab. Robert Szoszkiewicz, prof. UW (UW, Warsaw, Poland).

For numerous applications of microscopic MoS2 crystals one must understand their oxidation reactions in air and water. In this seminar, I will present the studies of microscopic heat-induced oxidation and oxidative etching in the case of thick, mechanically exfoliated, geological 2H MoS2 crystals in air. I will discuss particular reaction mechanisms and show how to differentiate MoO3 oxides and their derivatives onto such surfaces. In order to do so, we combined XPS, AES, XAS, Raman and AFM (topography, friction, Kelvin Probe) measurements on the MoS2 flakes.
